Fall is the season when many of us like to forget whizzing around the Commonwealth on I-64, 66, 81, or 95. It’s the time to enjoy the our forests decked out in their colorful hues and the smell of fall in the air.

For the first time ever the Virginia Department of Forestry (VDOF) has put together a list of routes that will give you a chance to enjoy the fall foliage without facing the traffic on Skyline Drive or the Blue Ridge Parkway.

VDOF Recommends these Fall Foliage Driving Tours

Many of these locations are within driving distance of the beltway on a Saturday or Sunday. Simply choose one of the tours below, print out the route and take it with you as you enjoy the “leaf-peeping” in Virginia!
