The name of Donna’s company is not a slogan but a promise

Two things have always been the highest priorities in Donna Ivey’s life – her faith and her family. Both of these values have been driving forces in establishing her dynamic home care company, I-CARE, Inc.

Donna has always been interested in healthcare and, early in her life, felt that she wanted to become a doctor. As a student she was president of Explorers at The Medical College of Ohio. This is a youth program that encourages aspiring physicians to shadow doctors.

After high school, she attended Bowling Green State University as a chemistry pre-med major and then later moved to Oklahoma where she continued toward a degree in chemistry pre-med with a medical sociology option.

When she married and began her family, Donna felt her work as a wife and mother took priority, so she placed her education on-hold.

Combining her zeal for helping people, her love for the medicine and her experience as the Director of Home Care Services for Therapy Associates, Donna began I-CARE in 1993. “I have always had this passion to restore excellence in healthcare and I-CARE became a way for me to make a difference in quality care while helping people who are at a point in their life when they really need support.”

The business is a family affair with her husband, Tony, serving as the Director of Operations. As the company grew, Donna also went back to school and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with honors.

I-CARE, Inc. has become a leader in providing a myriad of rehabilitation and personal care services for those who want to remain at home or as private duty personnel for hospitals and other facilities. These services include:

  • One-to-one physical, occupational and speech therapy
  • Nursing
  • In-home salon, sitter, landscaping, cleaning, life-managing and home services
  • Support group meetings to help patients deal and cope with disabilities, injuries and illnesses

They also can provide supplemental staffing to hospitals, nursing facilities, home health agencies and more.

Over the years, Donna has built a solid reputation as a champion of excellence in health services. She has served on several quality assurance boards for area home care agencies, emphasizing the importance of quality healthcare to all patients regardless of the resources provided to them by their health insurance coverage. She was also named among “This Year’s Top 10 Women in Business ” in a recent cover story for NOVA Exec magazine.

Donna and her husband reside in Burke. “I am humbly grateful.” she says, “We have three wonderful adult children. Two of them recently graduated with honors from college and our youngest has completed his sophomore year with honors in political science.”

As was mentioned earlier, Donna has a deep commitment to her faith, volunteering at First Baptist Church in Vienna, Virginia, where she has been a member for over 23 years. Her involvement has literally touched about every area of the church’s ministry, serving as the Director of the Nursery, President of Women’s Ministry, Director of Vacation Bible School, and a Sunday School Teacher.

She has also served as a member of: Missionary Ministry, Evangelism Ministry, New Members Ministry, and co-facilitator Married Couples Ministry. Most recently Donna has become a Deaconess in the church.

A firm believer in giving back to her community, Donna also has served in several community organizations such as the Mentor Works Program at Lake Braddock High School where she was the assistant coordinator and as a participant in the tutoring program for middle school students.

She was recently been appointed as a Board Member of CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates), which assists abused and neglected children in Prince William County Virginia. In addition, she is part of the Executive Leadership Team for her local chapter of Business Network International (BNI) where she served as President for 2011-2012. Moreover, she has become a member of the Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce and NAPW (The National Association of Professional Women).
