“Please RSVP.” Gloria Banks is a realtor with a busy schedule who gets a lot of invitations. In addition to business-related events, she also is invited to attend weddings, funerals, baby showers and graduations of her clients and their families. Some had purchased or sold their home years before. Over the years, she has done a lot more than simply gaining clients; she has made friends.

Gloria heads up Team Banks for RE/MAX Allegiance, actively working every day with buyers, sellers and investor to help them find the right home. A full-time realtor for over 25 years, her greatest joy is helping people achieve their goal to buy or sell their home for the best price with the least stress.

“I studied Psychology in college and wanted to counsel families and children,” she said. “At the same time, I strongly believed in home ownership. I determined that I could help people buy and sell homes and use my skills to support, educate and advocate for them during this exciting but stressful process.”

After working for other real estate companies, she joined RE/MAX Allegiance in 2001.

Gloria always strives to better herself as a Realtor, wanting to offer the quality and professional service she knows her clients deserve. As a result, she has taken a great deal of additional coursework and continuing education over the years. In addition, she completed requirements for a Brokers License in 1996.

She also has been coached by some of the best in industry. For 9 years she received training from Buffini and Company, the number–one coaching and training company in North America for real estate, lending, and service industry professionals.

Dedication to the real estate needs of her clients has truly paid off for her as a professional. Her awards include Peak Performer, RE/MAX Circle of Champions, NVAR Top Producer, Multimillion Dollar Sales Club, and the 100% Club.

For Gloria, however, recognition from the industry is secondary to the recognition she would rather receive from her clients. “I develop deep relationships with my clients that last a lifetime.” This is one of the reasons her schedule remains filled with special invitations.

“They appreciate the fact that I am their advocate for life,” she explained, “and their referrals support my business through good times and bad.”

She gets a great deal of satisfaction from being able to manage their transactions and creatively problem-solve the issues that arise. First and foremost, she wants to protect her client’s interests.

A life-long resident of Northern Virginia, Gloria is a graduate of Langley High School and the University of Virginia. In addition to working in residential real estate, she also has served as a teen counselor, weight Loss counselor and in commercial real estate for the Southland Corporation (they are the 7-Eleven people).

She was married in 1982 and with her husband, Doug, have two children, Amber and Nathan. When she is not helping clients or enjoying her family, Gloria enjoys reading, travel and learning more about wine. She is a member of the Virginia Association of Realtors and Business Networking International (BNI), where she is a past president and Membership Committee member.

Gloria has been an enthusiastic customer of Tom Ivey since April of this year after meeting him through BNI. Although she lives in the Ashburn area, she goes out of her way to use the professionals at Tysons Auto and for good reason.

“They recommend the repairs you need,” she stated, “and tell you when you don’t need something. They use high quality parts. I can see out my windshield for the first time in years after they put an excellent set of wipers on my car instead of the cheap ones that just smear everything.

“I trust that Tom not only has the expertise to take care of my cars but more importantly, I trust him as a person who cares about his clients and is honest about what is really needed vs. up-selling.

“He does excellent work for fair prices. There are many mechanics to choose from, just as in my business, but it is critical to select someone who you can trust to take care of your best interest. I run my business based on trusted relationships not quick transactions. I choose the people that I do business with by the same criteria.”

And what does she see for the future of Team Banks and RE/MAX Allegiance?

“When a client selects Team Banks to assist them with the purchase or sale of their home, they are obtaining a skilled advocate who will fight for them every step of the way.

“I have 25 years experience in sales, marketing, negotiating, problem-solving and analyzing Northern Virginia real estate throughout the region. I will be by their side every step of the way and continue to be their friend and resource for life.”

Gloria has a vision that also combines her early goals of helping individuals and families with her career in real estate. This is one way she believes she can make a difference in the lives of others.

“I would love to work with underprivileged young adults and mentor them in real estate sales. I would like to help them develop a strong personal and business work ethic while learning valuable business skills.”
