James Orsinger wasn’t looking to start a computer repair and installation business, the business found him! As the owner of a successful welding and machine shop, he had dabbled in computers since 1969. He always loved to learn how things worked, and the computer was no exception.

Gradually James became the “go-to guy” for family and friends when it came to technology. Even the calls at his shop increasingly had to do with IT problems and not welding.

James always enjoyed solving problems and helping people. “I can fix almost everything,” he says, “except a broken heart.”

These two traits came together every time someone called when their computer was down. He loved the challenge and saying those three words, “there, it works!”

In 1999 he began Vienna Tech Help and has never looked back.

At Vienna Tech Help, James doesn’t just repair computers; he works hard to keep his client’s equipment running. He also performs seamless computer replacement, cost-effective upgrades and network troubleshooting.

“Prevention is more important than intervention… Yes! That’s a good way to say it,” he remarked. “When you keep your data backed up and provide routine maintenance, a computer can last quite a long time. I like to help people get a lot more mileage out of their 2 to 3 year old – and sometimes older – machine rather than getting a new one.”

“For less than the cost of some new computer extended warranties, my Computer Day Spa can clean up, tune up and rev up your old computer. It will run faster than when it was new!”

When asked what one piece of advice he would give to a computer owner who is in the market for new equipment, he immediately said, “Call me first.”

Whether a customer works with Windows, Mac, Linux or other platforms, James can help them make the right decision regarding brand, model, specifications, and software. “I like to be involved from the beginning, setting up the computer, taking off the trial software and some of the pre-installed programs. Everything runs so much better. The same is true with printers and other peripherals.”

A lifelong resident of the area, James has lived on Plum Street in downtown Vienna for 32 years. He, and his wife, Denis, have three grown children. He finished his Engineering degree in 1999, (a lifelong learner), and received the Computer Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) Network+ Certification.

He is a member of BNI – Vienna Business Network, the Vienna-Tysons Chamber of Commerce, and coached the Madison High School Robotics Team from 2001 – 2005.

James uses Tysons Auto Specialties for his car repair. “I used to do all the repairs myself. I love cars and love working on them. One day it occurred to me that they can do in an hour what I do in four.

“They have a lift, the tools, the knowledge, and they have the parts delivered! What’s my time worth? I trust Tom with my cars and put the time I save into my business.”
