Today’s news is full of phrases like “fiscal cliff,” “debt ceiling,” and “tax changes.” With all the information flying around, often the most important question is not getting answered, “How does this affect me?”

Here is Robin Gordon, CPA, to the rescue! With over 30 years of experience in finance and accounting, she is able to explain what these terms mean for her clients and how they can work together to maintain maximum control on their money.

“Through my experience working for a big company along with owning my own accounting firm,” she states, “I understand how important it is to help my clients understand what is happening in today’s economy. At Cato Gordon and Company, we are able to blend personalized service with expertise for business owners, executives, independent professionals and individuals.”

As a personal financial specialist, Robin’s commitment to offer top-value service for her clients is her primary mission. This includes providing a website with abundant resources as well as publishing a monthly newsletter, for interested persons, that covers a number of practical topics as well as providing practical tips for money management.

Cato Gordon and Company provides services that encompass nearly every aspect of financial life, including accounting, taxation, IRS problem resolution, estate and trust tax preparation, business preparation and daily money management.

“We know that our clients expect quality service. Our reputation for delivering at this level comes out of demanding high standards from ourselves.”

A native of San Francisco, CA, Robin graduated from the University of California at Berkley and has lived in Northern Virginia for almost 20 years. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

She and her husband, Richard, have two children. One is in college while the other just started a graduate program in Foreign studies at Georgetown. For fun, she enjoys running, playing basketball, watching football and baseball, reading, shopping, travelling and hanging out with my family and friends.

“In fact,” she added, “I will be running the ½ marathon in Richmond this year!”

Robin strongly believes in giving back to her area where she lives and has recently co-chaired a committee with the McLean Orchestra. The i2b (Instrumental to Business) Committee worked to bring the music group closer together with the business community.

In 2005, Robin began taking all her cars to Tysons Auto Specialties after meeting Tom Ivey at a Business Network International (BNI) chapter. “It comes down to trust,” she explains. “I believe what Tom tells me, and I can’t say that about any other mechanic I know.”
